One Cold, Windy Winter's Day

Driving home one mighty cold, windy winter day, I saw 2 horses in a farmer’s field standing along the fence line, facing the road with their backs to the wind. In this winter landscape painting, one horse has turned and is running toward the farmer arriving with hay in the back of his pickup, while the others, as shown, have yet to notice.

 

When I got home, I pulled out a canvas and began this painting. Using many layers, techniques, and shades of blue, grey, and mauve, along with the blond, dark, and sorrel colors of the horses, I brought my vision to life.
